Summer events hotter then the sun!

Melissa Bourdon-10K winner

September has arrived as the heat can only be matched by our trio of events which took place in July.

Fun Run (July 9)

The heavy rain forecast created havoc with organizers and participants as our 16th annual fun run approached on Saturday July 9 from the Red barn, Baie d’Urfe.

Ten months in the making, and many people to thank! Caroline Kronlov, Alex Craig Payne, with Running Room Pointe-Claire for their support. Mayor Maria Tutino, Colleen Shaw, and the administration of Baie d’Urfe for believing in us. Tony Brown, Rescue squad, Brian Ross, Vcops, Kevin Raftery, photography for their continuous presence. Thank-you to all our volunteers, and most important, the runners, who came out to uncertain weather, but treated to respectable conditions allowing an event to remember.

Congratulations to Melissa Bourdon, 10k winner, and Lisa Zambour, 5k winner. Special recognition to Aaron Vasquez, Connie Reid, and Julian Morf for their generous pledges.

“The West Island Crusade against Cancer run is a wonderful event for an even better cause. I enjoyed everything about it from start to finish and want to thank the baie d'urfe community for sharing the roads and the organizers for putting together this event and bringing awareness to a disease that has impacted so many,” said 10k winner, Melissa Bourdon.

An event such as this allows the meeting of new friends, and the acquaintance of old. Close to $3,000 was made! The West Island Crusade Against Cancer is not the biggest, but we have the most fun!

Bats for Charity (July 23 weekend)

Linda Noury has been our friend for nine years. Her continued leadership and the respect she is given is something to behold. We thank-her, and all the volunteers which have made this event one of the most popular on our annual calendar.

“A Big thank you to all who participated, volunteered and supported one way or another this weekend. Every little bit counts.Congrats to H20 who walked away with the big win in the A Division and MAW (aka ENIGMA) in winning the B Division. We managed to raise $2495 this weekend despite the rain on the Saturday,” announced Ms. Noury

BATS FOR CHARITY will be adding to the existing Co-Ed teams an ALL GIRLS division starting next year for its 10th Annual. Along with a few extra volunteers who have offered to help, together we will make it happen! So put it in your calendars July 15th & 16th 2017! Spread the word!!!! All for a great cause!

Steve Arless Bike Ride (July 23)

Baie d’Urfe resident Steve Arless has been our friend for five years. An organized 40k bike ride through Ile-Perrot ending up at his home for dinner, drinks and entertainment.

The thundershowers kicked in Plan B. A triathlon was set with games of pinball, billiards and darts. Live entertainment, and a slider fest topped off the evening to a crowd of 20+. $1,000 was made and we thank Steve so much for his thoughtfulness.
