For those softball enthusiast with such love of the game can also get involved in a weekend of fun in the sun all while helping a great cause! This annual mixed softball tournament event takes place in July and helps raise money for the West Island Crusage Against Cancer.
Come cheer on the players and enjoy what the weekend has to offer. BBQ and drinks sold at concession stand along with music on site. Inflatable bouncer for kids. Silent auction, half & half, even a masseuse on site. Definitely a fun filled weekend not to be missed!
Teams, volunteers, sponsors and donations are all what makes this event a success.

Annual Bats for Charity Mixed Softball Tournament
In 2007, Linda Noury was wondering how to raise $300 so that she could participate in a walk-a-thon for another cancer related charity. Being passionate about the game of softball and already an avid player she decided to hold a softball tournament to raise the funds. Calling on all her softball colleagues she managed to get together 6 teams for her tournament and named the event Bats for Charity.
The result was $1400 raised
Due to the interest of those participants it has become an annual event.
Nine years later, Linda regularly gets 12 – 13 teams that are eager to participate in this fun charity event held over a weekend in July. She even has a team of volunteers that have helped support this event since the beginning.
The teams are mixed: 6 males and 4 females per team and is open to all who can get a team together. An A division and B division is determined at the end of Saturday. There is of course, a registration fee.
The winning teams at the end of the tournament get bragging rights and often their photo in the local paper.
Colorful team names such as Team Quest, Thunder Bunnies, MAW All-Stars and Shamrocks among others, participate in the round robin event. Food and beverages some of which is donated to BFC, are also available for sale. The silent auction is always a big hit and if time allows for it a home run derby on the Saturday.
