Steve Arless 40km Bike Ride a week away!
Steve Arless, a long time friend of Wicac is once again, holding his annual bike ride. Here, in his own words, description of event.
"Hi all, Hope you having a marvellous summer! Golf, cycling, travelling, beaching or whatever! As in previous years, this year’s bike rally and Bar B Q will be held on Saturday, July 23rd…..partly to accommodate my friends from Toronto (Janet, John, Anna and Jan), and partly to avoid the inclement weather as we lived through last September. The 2013 and 2015 bike rally's raised over $3000.00 for the West Island Crusade Against Cancer, (www.wicac.ca)
Let’s try to beat the number this year! A new twist for this year’s event will be the addition of a “slider festival”…….whereby everyone is invited to prepare and submit a special slider recipe (including 24 sliders and the toppings) which will be judged by a panel of peers at this year’s event. The winner will win a trophy and $500.00 (50% going to WICAC, 50% to the winner). All interested contestants need to let me know if they want to participate. Westjet tickets also available to purchase. Drawing will be Sunday July 24. Grand prize winner is two tickets wherever they fly.
The bike rally will start at 2 pm on Saturday afternoon (July 25th) from my house (20258 Ch Lakeshore, Baie D’Urfe)…..led by the ladder fire truck from the City of Baie D’Urfe. Following the tour around Ile Perrot (40k), the Bar B Q and slider festival will commence at 4:30 pm on my backyard waterfront deck…..showers available at my house but you need to bring your own towels. Please let me know if you will be able to come to this exciting and giving event this year"
